michael mcdermott 

Michael McDermott is an artist and designer and currently lives in the Coombsville area of Napa, CA with his wife, winemaker Samantha Sheehan and their two children Owen and Cash, and their Lurcher dog “Jet”. Born in Dekalb, IL, in 1957 to Michael and Paulette - professors at the small liberal arts university, NIU. His family moved to the suburbs of Chicago in 1983. As a young person growing up there he apprenticed with folk-pop artist Craig Carey. While in high school he attended the early college program at the Art Institute of Chicago for a short time where he met a small group of graffiti artists from Chicago’s West Side. Graffiti led to painting and various forms of art and design have occupied him into his adult life. McDermott attended the University of Montana, Missoula and has operated studios in Detroit, Los Angeles, and Napa.
